New Location for 13th Annual Flag Day 5K Run and Walk on June 12th to Benefit Veterans

Funds to support Community Hope programs for as many as 1,000 homeless veterans and veteran families this year

PARSIPPANY, NJ --The 13th Annual Flag Day 5K Run will be held on Thursday, June 12th at 7:00 p.m. at its new location at the Lyons VA Campus of the NJ VA Healthcare System at 151 Knollcroft Road in the Lyons section of Bernards Township. Proceeds benefit Community Hope’s Hope for Veterans® Programs that will serve as many as 1,000 homeless and wounded veterans and their families struggling with homelessness in the year ahead. On the new course, race participants will pass two of Community Hope’s veterans programs located on the Lyons VA campus: The newly-built 62-unit Valley Brook Village and the 95-bed Hope for Veterans® Transitional Housing Program.

“This is a great opportunity for the community to come out in support of our veterans and veteran families who, after sacrificing so much for our country, now need our help,” said J. Michael Armstrong, Community Hope CEO. “This year’s event is especially important as we strive to save as many as 1,000 veteran families from homelessness and despair. Some are struggling with the invisible wounds of war. Others simply returned to an economy where it has been tough to make ends meet.”
