Who We Serve

Danny graduated in the top 10 percent of his high school class. He left college to serve our country in the Army, where he was deployed to Iraq and then Afghanistan as a medic. He spent time embedded with the 101st Airborne Division in a Taliban stronghold. Through all of these experiences, he witnessed first-hand the horrors of war ... while treating his injured fellow soldiers.

Danny returned home in 2009, but not without the emotional wounds that make readjusting to civilian life so daunting: Night terrors, sleeping with a weapon under his pillow to protect himself, a lingering depression that made it difficult to work and harder still just to get through each day. He soon found himself living in his car, isolated and homeless.

Thanks to Community Hope, Danny is getting his life back on track. In our Hope for Veterans® Transitional Housing Program, he receives the support and counseling he needs. A year after entering Hope for Veterans®, he has returned to college, hoping to complete a degree in healthcare that allows him to build on his experience as a medic and continue helping others.
